What should guide your choice?
First decide how the milk will be served, then choose the container size based on how many you expect to open and how you’ll be able to store them on site.

What to check |
Who this is for |
| Uninterrupted service |
Total volume and number of units in the pack; whether you can open the containers as needed. |
I’m planning to serve milk in several ways during the buffet and want to keep some units sealed in reserve. Around 33% of consumers prioritise uninterrupted service. |
| Serving smaller amounts |
The volume of each container, such as 50 cl or 1 L, and the number of tables to stock. |
I want to share the milk between tables without opening a large container at every serving point. This is the top priority for around 27% of consumers. |
| Storage |
Whether it is labelled UHT or fresh, the instructions before and after opening, and the refrigeration available on site. |
If fridge space is limited before the buffet, I need to know which unopened containers can be kept out of the fridge. Storage is a priority for around 27% of consumers. |
| Specific requests |
Organic or origin labelling, ingredients and allergens, and the format of the product you choose. |
Some guests have mentioned a specific preference, and I want to clearly identify the milk available to them. Around 13% of consumers put these features first. |
A Joybuy product for larger-scale serving
This pack of six 1 L GrandLait cartons is a good fit for a buffet where you can open the milk gradually. Before planning how to store it, check the packaging for the type of milk and its storage instructions: the pack format alone doesn’t tell you whether it’s UHT.

Frequently asked questions
Can you keep whole milk out of the fridge before the wedding?
Yes, if the product is explicitly labelled UHT and its packaging says it can be stored this way before opening. Don’t apply this rule to fresh milk: Candia says GrandLait Frais de Montagne whole milk must be kept between 0 and +6 °C before opening.
How long can you keep an opened carton after the buffet?
Follow the storage time and temperature instructions on the product you bought, and refrigerate any opened cartons. Instructions vary between products: Lactel says its whole milk with vitamin D should be used within three days, while Candia gives a four-day period for GrandLait whole milk.
Is lactose-free whole milk suitable for someone with a milk allergy?
No: ‘lactose-free’ doesn’t mean ‘milk-free’. Lactel’s Matin Léger Bio whole milk is still a milk-based product. Check the label with the person concerned before offering them a drink.
What information should you keep accessible while serving?
Keep the packaging for the products you serve so you can check their ingredients, allergens and storage instructions. The French Directorate-General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control reminds businesses that allergenic ingredients must be emphasised on the labels of prepacked foods.
Is a 50 cl container intended for one person?
Not necessarily: 50 cl is the volume of the container, not a single serving. This size can be useful for sharing milk between several tables or opening smaller amounts. Choose the number of containers to suit how you plan to serve it.
