Frequently asked questions
Does an unfurnished rental always come with a fitted kitchen ?
No. In France, the Moselle ADIL and ANIL point out that landlords are not required to provide a so-called “fitted” kitchen (information published on 21 January 2026). Check the appliances listed in your tenancy agreement and what’s already in the property before making your shopping list.
What should you measure before ordering a fridge or washing machine ?
Measure the appliance, the space it will go in and the delivery route. For a washing machine, check the manual against your access to water and drainage; for a fridge, follow the model’s installation and ventilation instructions. Also check what’s included in the delivery or installation service.
What capacity should you choose for a washing machine ?
Choose a capacity that suits your usual loads. ADEME says a 7 kg model is enough most of the time, helping you avoid running cycles with underfilled drums. Check that this suits your needs and the space available.
Is the warranty the same for a second-hand appliance bought from a business or a private seller ?
No. In its guidance dated 20 November 2025, the French Ministry of the Economy explains that the statutory guarantee of conformity applies to new, second-hand and refurbished goods sold by a business to a private buyer; it does not apply to a standard sale between private individuals. Check who the legal seller is before buying.
