For decades, the Sanrio universe and its charming characters have captivated collectors and fans of kawaii culture. Whether you're looking to start a Hello Kitty collection, find the perfect gift, or simply add a touch of cuteness to your desk, navigating the overwhelming number of options can be a challenge.
This guide is here to help you make sense of it all and choose the Hello Kitty figure (or another Sanrio character) that's truly right for you, based on key criteria: the license, the size, and of course, the character.
Before diving into our selection, let's review the key points that will ensure you make the right choice.
For a collectible Hello Kitty figure, authenticity is non-negotiable. Only officially licensed Sanrio products guarantee a design, colours, and proportions that are faithful to the original. Manufacturers like Giochi Preziosi are renowned for their collaboration with Sanrio, offering figures that stay true to each character's essence. A good rule of thumb? Always check for the Sanrio logo on the packaging.
While Hello Kitty remains the undisputed icon, the Sanrio universe is teeming with other equally popular characters. A Cinnamoroll figure, with his long ears and cloud-like appearance, or a My Melody figure, instantly recognizable by her pink hood, are excellent options to add variety, diversify your collection, or find the perfect gift. Each character has its own unique story and aesthetic.
The figure's format is important. The 10?cm size is a classic: it's the ideal height for displaying a character on a shelf, desk, or in a cabinet without taking up too much space. These dimensions offer an excellent balance between level of detail and a discreet footprint. Consider where you plan to display your Sanrio statuette to choose the most suitable format.
We have selected three figures from the Sanrio universe that stand out, both for their design and their appeal to collectors.
What Makes It Stand Out
This Cinnamoroll figure stands out with its large, glossy eyes, which give it a truly adorable expression. Each piece is numbered—a detail collectors appreciate for the value and tracking of their series. Its 10?cm format makes it a decorative object that is as discreet as it is charming.

Its design, perfectly faithful to the character with her pink hood and sweet expression, makes it a particularly charming collector's item. A figure, like a collectible Hello Kitty character, is primarily an object for display. The level of detail is generally more refined, and the materials (like PVC) are chosen for their appearance and aesthetic durability. In contrast, a toy is designed for play: it must therefore be more robust to withstand handling and meet specific safety standards for children.
The easiest way to start a Hello Kitty collection is to begin with your favourite character. Then, set a guideline for yourself: collect a single character in all their outfits, focus on a specific series (like the "Dreamland Series"), or limit yourself to one format, such as the very popular 10?cm size. In any case, always prioritise officially licensed products to guarantee the authenticity of your pieces.
Giochi Preziosi is a reputable Italian manufacturer and an official Sanrio licensee. Their products, like the Cinnamoroll and My Melody figures in our selection, are highly regarded for their faithfulness to the original designs and the quality of their materials (especially PVC). Choosing a figure from this manufacturer is therefore an excellent guarantee of quality and respect for the Sanrio universe.
