Dreaming of hanging a picture frame, installing a shelf, or organising your bathroom without taking out the drill? Whether you're a renter (and want your security deposit back!) or DIY simply isn't your cup of tea, the fear of turning your wall into Swiss cheese is very real. The good news: today, there are amazing solutions for securely mounting objects without making a single hole.
In this guide, we review the best drill-free wall mounting options—reliable solutions for every need. Our goal is to help you find THE perfect solution for your project, whether it's for indoors or outdoors.
To make the right choice, here are the three key points to check before you buy.
Load capacity is the number one criterion. A simple adhesive hook will be perfectly fine for a tea towel or a lightweight string of lights. For a heavy mirror or a large frame, however, a more robust solution is essential. The rule of thumb: always check the maximum supported weight, which is clearly indicated on the packaging. A good no-drill picture hanger must be able to safely support several kilograms.
Not all mounts are created equal when it comes to wall types. Smooth, non-porous surfaces (tile, glass, metal, painted wood, etc.) are the ideal playground for adhesives. For a no-drill bathroom hook, obviously opt for models that are moisture-resistant. For drywall, specific systems exist that are an excellent alternative to the traditional anchor-free drywall mount. Be careful: on textured surfaces, wallpaper, or freshly painted walls, adhesion is not guaranteed and requires special attention.
The climate has a direct impact on a mount's lifespan. Outside, the adhesive must be able to withstand UV rays, rain, and significant temperature fluctuations. A weather-resistant outdoor hook is designed for this, whereas a standard indoor model would fail in record time.
Here is our selection of tried-and-tested solutions, each designed for a specific need.

Our selection covers the most common uses, but every project is unique. For more specific needs (garden sheds, garages, workshops, etc.), be aware that a myriad of other systems exist. To discover them, take a look at our complete range of Shed Wall Hooks.
Most modern systems, like those in the Command range, are designed for clean removal. The golden rule: never pull the hook towards you. Hold it firmly and pull the adhesive tab very slowly, straight down and parallel to the wall. It will stretch like an elastic band and detach without damaging the paint or leaving any sticky residue.
This is a very bad idea. The adhesive is likely to bond with the paper fibres, and when you try to remove it, you are almost certain to tear off a piece of your wall covering. On wallpaper, it's better to opt for ultra-fine pin hooks or revert to more traditional mounting methods.
The adhesive hook relies on a bonding principle: it sticks to a smooth surface. Its effectiveness depends on the quality of the adhesive and the cleanliness of the surface. The 3M CLAW mount, on the other hand, is purely mechanical: it doesn't stick, but physically anchors into the drywall with its steel claws. It is therefore reserved for this type of wall but offers a much higher load capacity in return.
