Before you start browsing, it's helpful to define your needs. Here are three key points to consider.
First things first, get out your measuring tape! The classic rookie mistake? Falling for a table that's too large and obstructs pathways. The golden rule: allow for at least 70 cm of free space all around the table so you can pull out chairs without bumping elbows.
Your table is the centrepiece of the dining room; it should harmonise with your decor. The choice of materials is therefore crucial, as it influences both the look and the ease of maintenance.
How many people will be at the table daily? A 4 to 6-person table is the quintessential versatile standard, perfect for couples and young families. Love to entertain? Plan ahead and opt for an extendable table or a more generous model (6 to 8 people) to seat everyone comfortably.
To turn inspiration into reality, here are four of our favourite models that cater to distinct needs and styles.

1. What size table should I get for 6 people? To comfortably seat 6 guests, aim for a rectangular table at least 140 cm long (160 cm is ideal) or a round table with a diameter of about 120 cm. And don't forget the clearance around it for the chairs!
2. How do I care for a glass or marble-effect table? For a glass table, a soft cloth and glass cleaner are all you need to remove smudges. For a marble-effect table (often MDF with a PVC or melamine coating), a simple damp cloth will do the trick. In both cases, avoid abrasive products and use placemats or trivets to protect the surface from heat.
3. Round or rectangular table for a small space: which to choose? It all depends on your room's layout. A round table is often easier to place; with no corners, it improves flow. A small rectangular table, on the other hand, can be pushed against a wall to free up space for daily use. So, it's also an excellent option.
